It is always so nice to come back from vacation only to work a four day work week! I say we all voice our opinions at work to have a ten hour work day and work only four days a week leaving three days off, what do you think? I already work nine to ten hour days anyways!!
That is pretty much it. Time to crack open a bottle of wine and lounge now. Have a good weekend!!
Welcome to Times Square ladies and gentlemen.
Two chics having an amazing time!
Steph and I decided to do a wild and crazy 48 hour trip to NY last week. Let’s just say we accomplished our main goal, SHOPPING.
We left Thursday night around 7pm and ended up in NYC at 6am the next day. We were greeted by lots and lots of snow. Our first goal was to catch a cab to the Hearld Square. The ride was so pretty with all the snow, however it took over and hour and a half to get into the city. Steph slept the entire trip. Needless to say I had a whole one hour sleep the entire trip, but it did not stop me from wanting to go shopping.
We made it to the New Yorker Hotel on 34th Street around 9am. We thought we would get in earlier and catch the Today show but it was too late and they were also filming in Miami so that worked out ok. The hotel was nice enough to let us check in early early so that was a relief. We stayed on the 20th floor and it had to be the creepiest floor ever. I swear it was a haunted floor. Kind of reminded me of the Shining. We didn’t care too much since were were solely using it for showering and sleeping. I jumped in the shower to wake myself up and off to Macys!!
Got to Macys and headed down to the eating area. Yeah it is a whole floor dedicated to gourmet food and snacks. We both wolfed down a bagel with egg and cheese and the largest coffee possible. Ready to shop now!!
We were a bit overwhelmed and could not decide where to start. It literally took us about 20 minutes to figure out what do. We ended up shopping for a couple hours and then thought we should maybe head to H&M (my fav. store) to get away from all the temptations. That was a good plan because we were in H&M for hours. We both went crazy and bought lots and lots of cute clothes. It helped us get a better idea and goals for Macys (since it was ten stories and so many options).
Next stop, pampering. We went back to the hotel after five or six hours of shopping to clean up and get ready for our pampering session. We headed out on the street and hailed a cab. The cab whisked through the area and dropped us off at Spa Butterfly. We were ready for our pedicure and one hour massages. We had one mix up. The spa said that Steph did not have a massage scheduled. Good thing she printed out her confirmation!! In the end it all worked out.
Afer the wonderful massage we decided to walk around a bit. We ended up in Times Square. We walked a bit more and decided to get out of that area since it was loud and hussle bussle and we were super chill and relaxed. Got in the cab and headed back to our hood. We decided to get a bottle of wine and couple slices of pizza and head to the room (also note Erika was on one hour of sleep in almost 1.5 days). Finding wine in this city was a challenge. You would think it would be easy! We found a liquor store and it was a bit ghetto, but we didn’t care. Wine was so expensive. I forget we are from the wine country of California. My normal $6.99 bottle was $17.00!! That just floored me but at the point I got over and headed for pizza. Now the pizza was a deal! $1.99 a slice. We each got a piece and headed to the hotel. Might I add it was freezing cold!!! We got to the hotel and sippped wine, laughed lots and then fell asleep. We had to be up the next morning to get back to Macys by 9am.
Saturday Morning and ready to go! We got up and Erika decided to get some new and comfy shoes. Picked up some black chucks and was happy. Steph need a coffee boost so we went to Starbucks. I am normally all about Starbucks but it does not taste the same in NY. So I passed and waited for Macys.
We went back to the basement for food. Had a delicious turkey sandwich on a french baguette and Steph and a Pastrami/Roast Beef standwich. We were ready to shop again. I think we must have tried on a hundred different outfits! It was just so much fun. There is an entire floor dedicated to shoes!! I really wanted to get lots of shoes but the amount of people and trying to get someone to help you was overwhelming so I passed. Oh we ended up going to H&M and buying more stuff too. Almost forgot that.
My friend from junior high lives in NY. Her name is Tiffany. She met us at Macys around 1pm and she was going to show us around the town. She also did a little shopping herself.
After we finished we decided that we were going to head to her neck of the woods. She lives in Gramercy Park. Really nice area. Uma Thurman lives in a building right next to her! We hung out there and got to see her place. It was tiny tiny but cute. I could totally live there.
We ended up near the NYU campus where she took us to a fine shop called Filene’s Basement. Great bargain shopping. We were a bit tired but I managed to find a few things. Steph swore she was not going to get anything here but ended up walking out with three dresses. We all agreed that we were hungry and had lunch at a little French Bakery (forgot the name). We had some really yummy food and coffee.
It was time to head back to Times Square to see the musical Legally Blonde. This was a suprise for my sisters birthday. She was so excited!! We all hung out at Starbucks (not for coffee but to keep warm) until it was time for the show. Tiffany parted her way and we said our good byes and ran for the theater. The show was at the Palace Theater right in the heart of Times Square. The show… WAS AMAZING!!! It was so good I got the soundtrack and have been blasting in my car for the past few days! Steph loved it to and that is what made me so happy.
The only downfall of the trip was after the show. It seriously took us 30 minutes to hail an cab. Normally not a big deal but it was freakin’ cold!!!!!!! We finally got the cab and headed back to the hotel to get a a couple hours of sleep before we had to get up and head to the airport at 3am.
Well, that was the trip. So fast but so fun. Love ya sis.
We made it to NY and check out the snow.
this pup just cost me 300 beans!
So we have had no internet for the past two days and it has been driving me nuts. I managed to leech off of someone today while I am wasting my day away waiting for some people to run a water test in the gigantic hole we have in our wall in our apartment. I would much rather be out and about running errands or even at work (like i should be) instead of wasting time confined in my apartment and not getting this wall taken care of.
We have had this hole and water issue in the apartment for four weeks! going on five weeks, actually. The only good thing that is coming out of this is the owner of the unit is allowing us to not pay rent this month. We are happy with that, but still it is still annoying waiting, waiting waiting…. Luckly Jason is their point of contact. If they had to deal with me I think they might be scared. Jason has way more patience than I do.
Guess I will continue to leech and surf the internet. Until next time.
My husband was a trooper and went to see the ultimate chic flick today. What a good sport he is.
I cannot believe my deal today. I got a black dress, tights and high heel shoes for 22.00 for everything. Now this ain’t no K-Mart shopping. Dollhouse shoes for 10 bucks!! Love it. I am sporting my outfit today. super comfy and stylish. That is it!
I am absolutely obsessed with finding funky tights. I got some at Ross today and was so excited only to find out they are for people under 5 feet four inches!!!! So not happy with that but still on a mission to find more funky tights before our winter season is over.
It is a new year and time for some change. Jason introduced me to tumblr today. I decided to do the switch because there is just so much more I can do here. I can finally post pictures and video, something I could not do before. It is very minimal and that works for me.
